About
botanists.com.au is a research platform for non-specialists in Northern Australia. It brings together mapping, biological records, field evidence and ecological knowledge so a reader can see what is known about a place.
It is not a commercial service. It is not an identification. It is not a substitute for a botanist on the ground. A name on a nursery list or a consulting report is a claim until it is evidenced.
Work so far is grounded in the Brigalow Belt North and Einasleigh Uplands. Empty country on the map is not written yet.
Records such as the Schizostachyum ‘Murray Island’ and Cocos nucifera papers are reasoned interpretations, not herbarium determinations.
Methods explains observed, documented, mapped, expected, modelled, inferred and unknown.
